Meta (XNAS-META) has officially launched its first smart glasses featuring an integrated color display, marking a significant step in the evolution of consumer wearables. The Meta RayBan Display, priced at $799 in the U.S., introduces a screen embedded directly into the right lens, allowing users to view information as if it were floating in mid air while remaining invisible to bystanders.
This innovation blends augmented reality with everyday utility. Users can access recipes, navigation prompts, incoming messages, and AI powered contextual insights such as identifying artworks or buildings directly through the lens. The glasses pair via Bluetooth with both Android and iOS devices, enabling seamless integration with smartphones.
Functionality extends beyond passive viewing. The glasses are equipped with a camera for photos and video, complete with a notification light to signal recording. Built in microphones and speakers allow for phone calls and audio playback. Control is intuitive: users can interact via taps and swipes on the frame or through a wristband that detects subtle hand and finger movements including gestures like tapping, squeezing, or even writing on a surface.
Battery life averages six hours per charge, with the included case offering an additional 30 hours. While the U.S. release is underway, Meta plans to expand availability to the UK, France, Italy, and Canada in early 2026. Euro pricing has yet to be announced. This launch positions Meta at the intersection of fashion, functionality, and future forward computing potentially reshaping how consumers engage with digital environments in real time.
