Nokia (XNYS-NOK) has been selected by VodafoneThree as a strategic supplier under a landmark eight-year agreement to overhaul and modernize the telecom operator’s network infrastructure across the United Kingdom. The deal marks Nokia’s re-entry as a key provider of Radio Access Networks (RAN) and Core Networks for the newly merged entity formed by Vodafone and Three.
The partnership is a cornerstone of VodafoneThree’s ambitious £11 billion investment plan aimed at delivering 5G coverage to 99% of the UK population by 2034. Nokia will deploy its advanced AirScale RAN portfolio, featuring Habrok Massive MIMO radios and Pandion Remote Radio Heads, across approximately 7,000 sites nationwide.
Beyond RAN deployment, the agreement includes ongoing maintenance of Three UK’s existing core network and the integration of Nokia’s MantaRay NM intelligent management system, designed to enhance operational efficiency and network resilience. Max Taylor, CEO of VodafoneThree, emphasized the partnership’s role in building “the best network in the UK,” while Nokia CEO Justin Hotard highlighted the collaboration’s potential to deliver next-generation performance and reliability to British consumers and businesses.
